Sample Activities with Rania Ali

Mar 24: Rania Ali was invited to the Austrian Parliament to meet with Members of Parliament (MPs) in the context of International Women’s Day. Discussions included human rights, youth engagement, media, and cultural topics.

Jul 23: Rania Ali appeared on a panel at the World Youth Skills Day event at the United Nations in Vienna. She spoke about the importance of education to youth empowerment and community engagement in promoting the rule of law.

May 23: At the United Nations for the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. Here with Dr. Hyab Yohannes, Rania Ali, and Sylvie Jabbour at the ‘Safety net for victims of organized crime’ side event on bridging the justice gap.

Apr 23: Led a workshop at ORF for journalists from all over Austria. Emphasis was on human rights and related topics. In that regard, we held live interviews with Rania Ali and others. Rania Ali spoke to the journalists about her award-winning documentary.

Dec 22: Honored to hold a variety of trainings for the Austrian Parliamentary Administration. Here I am with Rania Ali, whom I invited to be a guest speaker on youth empowerment in one of the courses.

Jul 21: On stage at the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna for a World Day against Trafficking event which was supported by HRH Princess Eugenie of England. Rania Ali gave a well-received presentation on human rights.

Mar 21: As SDG 2030’s first initiative, Rania Ali and I created a 75-minute interactive, online event for International Women’s Day 2021. Former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon provided a welcome statement.

Feb 20: Travelled to Dubai with Rania Ali where she won the Tolerance Award in the Aesthetic Arts category. Very proud of Rania for this well-deserved honor (credit: Virendra Saklani/Gulf News).

Jul 19: Rania Ali, Nour Barakeh and I co-interviewed former Austrian President Dr. Heinz Fischer at the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens. Topics ranged from human rights to youth empowerment in this friendly discussion.

May 19: Participated in the Mayor’s reception celebrating the ‘40th Anniversary of the Vienna International Centre’ in the stunning City Hall. Most Vienna-based UN organizations were there in promotion of multidisciplinary cooperation.

Mar 19: Rania Ali, Dr. Suad Mohamed, Nour Barakeh and I were invited to visit the office of Austrian Parliamentarian Dr. Alma Zadić. Creative cooperation between government and civil society is crucial in reaching the SDGs.

Sept 18: For the International Day of Peace, we held a refugee-related event at The World Museum. Many thanks to Second President of the Austrian National Council Doris Bures for hosting and to Rania Ali for her keynote.

Sept 18: I co-moderated the International Cultural Diversity ICDO event at the Vienna City Hall and was very happy to see Rania Ali there. She gave a powerful presentation on the importance of intercultural awareness.
